Chief of Department Bernie
Becker began his career as a part time / volunteer Firefighter / EMT with the
Colerain Township Fire Department in 1977 and was promoted to a career position
in 1978. Chief of Department Bernie
Becker worked through the ranks obtaining positions as a Fire Apparatus Operator,
Aerial Tower Operator, Advanced EMT, Shift Lieutenant, Captain, Director of
Fire and Life Safety; promoted to the position of Assistant Chief with the
Anderson Township Fire Department in 1996 and promoted to the position of Chief
of Department with the Clearcreek Fire District in 1997.
In 1976, Chief of Department
Bernie Becker willingly entered military service in the United States Marine
Corp. After basic and M.O.S. training,
Chief Becker joined the USMC Reserve unit, Communication Company in Cincinnati,
Ohio. Chief of Department Bernie Becker
served a six-year tour with this unit, earning a meritorious promotion to the
rank of Corporal and ending his tour with the rank of Sergeant and Platoon
Leader.

Becker has extensive experience in the fire service and is active in various
professional associations: Public Administrators Association, Building
Officials Code Administrators, Ohio Fire Chiefs Association, International Fire
Chiefs Association, Warren County Local Emergency Planning Commission, National
Fire Protection Association, National Society of Executive Fire Officers and is
past Vice President of the Warren County Fire Chiefs Association. In addition, Chief of Department Bernie
Becker is active in various community activities; Sinclair Community College
Fire Advisory, Community Blood and Tissue Bank Advisory, Springboro Lion and
Springboro Optimist organizations.

Becker is a National Registered Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic, earned
a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire and Safety Engineering Technology from the
University of Cincinnati, a Master of Science Degree in Executive Fire Service
Leadership from the Grand Canyon University, Phoenix Arizona, is a graduate of
the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program (EFO) in Emmitsburg,
Maryland. In addition, Chief Becker is an
on-line faculty for the University of Cincinnati Open Learning Fire Science
Program, the on-line Master of Science in Executive Fire Service Leadership
with the Grand Canyon University, Applied Research Evaluator for the National
Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program and the Ohio Fire Executive
Program, and is certified as a Chief Fire Officer Designate (CFO) from the
International Fire Chiefs Association.
Chief of Department Bernie
Becker has been instrumental in Leading Change for the Clearcreek Fire
District, transitioning a small volunteer fire department into a flagship
combination career and part time fire district for northern Warren County,
Ohio.
