NEWS RELEASE CLEARCREEK TOWNSHIP POLICE ARREST AT LYTLE FIVE POINTS SCHOOL.

Today the police department arrested a subject at Lytle Five Points School that was in possession of a loaded firearm on school property. The subject was arrested without incident and the subject was transported to Warren County Jail. The arrest occurred as the end result of what began as a custody issue between two divorced parents. The arrest was the result of our department finding him on school grounds in the parking lot and while serving civil protection orders against him. During the serving of the papers the weapons charges were revealed. With all the attention to school shootings you may find it odd that it is actually legal to carry a loaded weapon onto a school ground if you a properly licensed CCW permit holder. If you are a licensed CCW permit holder you can drive onto school property to pick up or drop off your child and be in possession of a loaded weapon. You may not exit the vehicle with the weapon or enter the building with the weapon in your possession. The weapons arrest involving the parent resulted in the fact that the parent did NOT possess a valid CCW permit. Therefore, he does not qualify for any Ohio law exemption. As a result it was illegal for him to possess the gun on school grounds period. It also resulted in additional weapons charges for the way he had it concealed in the vehicle and for the transportation of the weapon in the vehicle. There was no indication at this time that the arrested parent intended to use the weapon in any way on school grounds. The arrested subject is: Brian Streit 44 ys of age 1224 Case Ave Miamisburg, Ohio Charges: Illegal Conveyance of a Deadly Weapon on School Premises Improperly Handling Firearms in Motor Vehicle John D. Terrill Chief of Police Clearcreek Township Police Department 7593 Bunnell Hill Rd. Springboro, Ohio 45066 937-748-1267
