Preserving Yesterday's History for Tomorrow

Apr 30, 2025

Many residents know that Clearcreek Township and Springboro started as a Quaker community. It is also common knowledge that the area was part of the Underground Railroad. Did you know that it was more than just a stop on the way to freedom from slavery, but a vital part of Ohio’s busiest Underground Railroad route, with an estimated 27 safe houses assisting from 1,000 to 4,000 freedom seekers?

Did you know that the Springboro History Museum, located in the heart of historic Springboro, is the city’s oldest building, whose volunteers also help maintain the Null House, the oldest in-place log home in Warren County, built in 1798. Want to learn something more personally historic? The Springboro Area Historical Society has you covered! Through the Property History Research Program, you can request a deep dive into the history of your Clearcreek or Springboro property.

The Springboro Area Historical Society connects our community to its rich history through events and partnerships such as educational programs, monthly presentations, family-friendly events, Juneteenth participation, and an outreach speaker series.
