Fire Clerk (Part-time) - Clearcreek Fire District

Clearcreek Fire District is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to serve as Administrative Fire Clerk (Part Time), a key supporting role to the operations of our department. Reporting directly to the Office Manager, this position is responsible for assessing incoming information and prioritizing the data for presentation to the Fire Chief, Executive Staff and Command Staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft written correspondence, word processing and document development
  • Screen incoming calls and visitors, answering concerns and/or directing them appropriately
  • Assist in the preparation of agendas, reports, employee manuals and budget documents
  • Occasionally accept emergency calls and relay information
  • Process requests for purchases, maintain purchase records and prepare Fire District bills for approval from the Fire Chief
  • Maintain efficient office workflow and ensure high productivity

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain Notary Public commission in Ohio
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional, efficient operation of various office machines and proper office management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates experience in decision-making and assigned responsibilities requiring initiative
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and the public

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a related field
  • Extensive experience as an Administrative Clerk or Secretary
  • Background in emergency services or public sector operations

Compensation

  • Part-Time, hourly, non-exempt position; Starting pay is $20.00 - $25.00 an hour depending on qualifications and experience.

Career Firefighter

The Clearcreek Fire District is a progressive and growing fire protection district between Dayton and Cincinnati in Southwest Ohio. The District is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the Career Firefighter/EMT or Career Firefighter/Paramedic position.

The process will include a physical agility test (Firefighter Mile or CPAT), virtual/in-person interview(s), panel interview(s), final interview, psychological evaluation, polygraph examination, and an extensive personal history evaluation and medical examination, which includes drug testing. Candidates will be advised of their status throughout the process.  All scheduled dates and times are subject to change as the process progresses.

  • Lateral Paramedics starting salary range is $82,410 - 88,280 depending on experience level, plus other transferable benefits.
  • Preference is given as department needs dictate for specific subject matter specialists (EMS specialist, Rescue Technician, Hazmat specialist, Prevention).

ENTRY-LEVEL (not currently full-time) candidates MUST apply online with the National Testing Network at www.nationaltestingnetwork.com. Results from a current (within one year) and valid Firefighter Mile or CPAT for all entry-level candidates must be submitted with the application.    

  • The entry-level annual salary for EMTs is $70,083, and for Paramedics is $78,497, plus excellent benefits.
